Dr. Swarnalatha Kanneganti, MD, FACC, is an interventional cardiologist and Founder of Rudhira Heart and Vascular Institute, McAllen, Texas. Dr. Kanneganti did her medical education at Gandhi Medical College, India. Then she moved to United States and did an Internal Medicine residency at Easton Hospital, Easton, Pennsylvania and Cardiovascular Diseases fellowship at Wright State University, Dayton, Ohio. After that she moved to Rio Grande valley (McAllen) and worked for 5 years as a cardiologist. Then, to advance her procedure skills she did an Interventional Cardiology fellowship at University of Arizona – Phoenix. Dr. Kanneganti likes Rio Grande Valley, and got truly connected to the people here in this region. Subsequently, she moved back to McAllen after her interventional cardiology fellowship and is continuing to serve the health needs of this community. Dr. Kanneganti is board certified in Internal Medicine and Cardiovascular Diseases by the American Board of Internal Medicine and she is board eligible for Interventional Cardiology. In addition, she is Nuclear Cardiology board certified and RPVI certified (Registered Physician in Vascular Interpretation). Some of her contributions to the field of Cardiovascular Research Include several published case reports, numerous poster and oral presentations, and a review article on “Commotio Cordis”, and a Poem on Heart. Dr. Kanneganti is proficient in cardiac procedures such as Right & Left heart catheterization, Coronary Angiogram, Endomyocardial Biopsy, Percutaneous Coronary Interventions including the use of advanced techniques like Thrombectomy, Intravascular Shockwave Lithotripsy (IVL), Rotational Atherectomy, Orbital Atherectomy, Laser Atherectomy, etc. Furthermore she is trained in Peripheral Vascular Interventions and took pledge for limb salvage in patients with Critical limb ischemia to prevent limb amputations. Her additional skill sets include Temporary Transvenous Pacemaker placement, Permanent Pacemaker Insertion, Micra Permanent Pacemaker Insertion, Intra-Aortic Balloon Pump Insertion, Impella Left Ventricular Assist Device Insertion, CardioMEMS Heart Failure Sensor Implantation, Pulmonary Angiogram, PFO/ASD Occluder Insertion etc. Dr. Kanneganti is fluent in English. She speaks basic Spanish and can communicate clearly, and interact successfully with individuals from a wide range of social and cultural backgrounds.
